In 2020 Hanukkah was celebrated from Thursday Dec 10-18. Hanukkah means rededication, referring to the rededicating the temple just after the Maccabean revolt in 164 BC. Did you know Hanukkah is mentioned in John chapter 10? At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem; [Jhn 10:22 NASB] Jesus is teaching at the Temple and explains again that He is the Messiah.

Giving Thanks to God is not only demonstrated in the Bible. Giving Thanks is the natural response for those who know and love God. Finally, it is commanded of us to give Thanks to God for Everything! always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; [Eph 5:20 NASB] Giving Thanks through Him (Christ) to God The Father Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. [Col 3:15 NASB] Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms [and] hymns [and] spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. [Col 3:16 NASB] Whatever you do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. [Col 3:17 NASB]

John repeats all through this letter. "I Write These Things To You". John the Apostle who was with Jesus, has written down Truths for us to know and Trust. John repeatedly shares the difference between a person who follows Jesus and a person who does not follow Jesus. It is our responsibility to Know What Jesus Says and Obey Him.

John the Apostle of Love begins a letter to encourage the local church. He constantly emphasis that "These things we write," so that our joy may be made complete. 1John 1:4.

There is a trend of Christians practicing communion all by themselves, as if it were part of their daily devotions. There is no Biblical support for such a practice of private communion. The Lord's Supper is only to be observed when the local Church gathers together. They were continually devoting themselves to 1.the apostles' teaching 2.and to fellowship, 3.to the breaking of bread 4.and to prayer. [Acts 2:42 NASB] (On the first day of the week, ""when we were gathered together"" to break bread, . . . ) Act 20:7 NASB Share this Bible lesson with Christians you know who are practicing private Communion and pray that they repent.

Joel warns the nation of Israel of God's judgement on them because they were breaking the convenient. Joel also gives hope of blessing if Israel repents. Within the blessing, prophecy is given that is used in Peters first sermon to the masses at Pentecost.
